Rebel XT settings?

Eh, I didn't have much success with the night mode. The flash kept popping up and washes out the colors. There wasn't any flash compensation in the menu and I don't think RAW works in that mode either. Oh well, I'll keep playing around with it more until I find something that works. Plus these clowns are really hard to shoot since they are only like 1/2" long and constantly moving :)

The Rebel XT should have the night with flash and also night without flash. It should be the setting furthest from the A-DEP. What type of anemone is that. It looks very cool. Is that the color it really is or did the color get enhanced a little.

My suggestion is to read up on the basics of photo exposure and learn the basic tradeoffs between aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, because that will open up the flexibility that the camera offers and allow you to understand what the different modes do and why they are there. I was thoroughly confused with these parameters until I picked up an introductory photography book, and it really helped me figure out what the jargon all meant so that I could start playing around with the camera in coltrolled settings to see the impact of the settings on the pics. Once you get past this one concept with the camera, you will really be able to harness the power of the cam and use the settings to control exactly how your shots turn out.

Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson is what I picked up, but I'm not sure sure that you'd need to get the same book. I tried to find similar info on the web just now but nothing good seemed to show up when I googled, but I'm sure a more detailed search would produce something. Perhaps someone else on the forum has a link and can save you the $10 or so that the book costs.

I agree that getting a book is a good idea. I am much more interested in using the manuals controls rather than having the camera blindly lead me in the auto modes. If you come across anything you consider to be an essential read, feel free to post it up. And the anemone is a rose bubble tip anemone, or RBTA. It's that color and nothing was 'enhanced'.

Very nice I love the RBTA's color. Now I have to go find me one for my 90 LOL. I have a BTA that is always lighter.
