Rebel xti

sweet!

i basically started on auto mode....then once i got used to all the buttons and read through the manual enough, I went through the ISO settings in P-mode and just got used to all the basic settings, picture formats etc. (although you cant take RAW pics in full auto)

once you get a tripod you can start taking taking pics in AV mode.

a nice little experiment is to set it up on the tripod and focus in on your subject, then experiment with the aperature settings. taking a picture at each F-stop and then looking at them on the computer to compare the depth of field. that will give you a good feel for what you are doing.

for moving subjects, such as fish....i use TV mode and play around with it for a little bit until i get the shutter spead correct where its fast enough so the fish dont blur.

those are pretty much the only modes i ever use. i sometimes go into full manual when i can't get exposures just right. i dont think i've ever used the special auto modes before.

Very Nice Josh,

Good colour and image quality. I think you are going to love that camera. Even though my digital is old and outdated I still take 98% of my pictures with it. I would love to have a good quality one that would give me images like that.

That is a fairly low light location right? The quality over a large light range is what I notice the most with these better quality cameras. A guy I know was taking pictures with his Nikon outside at night with only the light from a small nearby window and they still turned out - envious.

this is killing me I think about this damn camera every day LOL man I wish i could afford it right now.

Roxy,

Me and my gf each got new cameras last November. Her's is a Rebel. I can feel your pain. Sometimes I can feel buyers remorse after a large purchase, but in this case we have had so much fun. Plus everything around us became more interesting. We look for the beauty in everything, hoping to see a great shot. We just spontaneously jump in the car and take off and look for subjects. Keep plugging away, you'll get it.

Mike
