Pirates Cove Reef
I have a custom Aquarium being built by Acrylic and Glass Exibits. The aquarium is 66" X 36" X 27" and will be a peninsula tank with an external overflow built on one end. I am trying to figure out if I can do all my flow from the external overflow with a single or dual Wavbox or a combination of stream pumps and a wavebox. I could also add a closed loop to cover the exposed end of the tank, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The Tank will be an SPS dominated mixed reef with open top. Thank you Roger.

You would have to layout the tank in such a way that lower flow corals were on the far end but it would work to have 2 6105 and one wavebox, Tom can also build in a wavebox and you would then just need a 6261 pump and 6101.240 power supply, they could all be driven by a 7096 controller.

Thanks I will talk to Tom, and I can have my main return drilled in the bottom on the far end? My goal is to have no visible power heads on the far end, but have some wave action and good flow. Thank you for your recomendations.

Roger we are moving forward with the A.G.E. Tank, but the dimensions have changed a bit. The Tank will be 60" X 32" X 22" with a 19 to 19.5" water level Rimless tank. The tank is a peninsula and they will build the 6105 and wavebox into the return/overflow, but they are asking me how I want things positioned in the overflow. I will end up with about 25" of overflow in the end of the tank up against the wall. I need to know what height to place the streams and the outlet for the built in wavebox. Any advice would be appreciated. I was also thinking of adding a controlable pump in the rockwork towards the front end to add in flow any recomendations? I like the one that is built into the rockwork. Thank you, Scott

The Tank will have about 2" of Sand in the bottom, and I want to try to stay away from bare spots near the two long display sides of the tank. Also will I be able to create a wave with the overflow on the end?

A second question, I have a friend with a 2 year old wavebox he will donate to my new build. Question anything different or better in the newer model? Thank you, Scott

Also I need the part numbers for the 2 6105's to hook up to a car battery for added security? Any Solenoid needed? Thanks, Scott

The Streams should be placed about 6-8" from the surface. The wavebox pump is typically centered about 8" below the surface in the wavebox but up to 10" would be fine. The safety connector to connect the streams to the battery are 6105.500, no solenoid is used, they have an integrated relay to switch to battery during a power failure. I would need to know more about the wavebox, it could have a 6261 pump or a 6260, they both have different pros and cons, this was right about at the switch over time.

He says it is the older unit that has a modified 6105 pump and a larger power supply, what do you recomend as I will only be using parts as they are building the wavebox into the tank? Thank you for your help.

Also if I were to add a powerhead in the rockwork, what would you suggest that I could control with the same controler? You have some pumps that fit the rocks, are they controlable?

6105 was never used in a wavebox, it would be either a 6260 or 6261, it will say on the back of the motor, it sounds like a 6261. Honestly I would just buy a 6261 motor and power supply.

The 6105 will fit in a stream rock and is controllable.
