Recommend good External Skimmer?

I am trying to find an excellent Skimmer for my 150g with 50g sump that needs to fit an external skimmer because the large center section is made into a fuge.

I originally wanted an ASM g3 but they need to be run IN-SUMP...

Any experiences or recommendations?

Thanks!

I have heard alot of good things about the AquaC skimmers. The EV240 should be the right size for your tank.

i was really thinking about the EV series! They are a lot more expensive than the insump models... :-(

I have always tried to not skimp on $ on my tank, but I am truly hoping to not spend more than $400 on it... I am probably going to have to find a used one...

I know you want external but I would go with the TUNZE 9015, rated for a 240 I have it on a 90 and it is awesome and small, when you pull the cup off the chamber comes with it and makes for a really easy clean job, TUNZE has real good customer care also

I Have a Euroreef 180 recirculating skimmer and been using it for a year have not had one issue and it produced a good amount of skimate.

I have heard a lot of different things about the Euroreefs... A lot of people say they are good and then some say they hate them.

What kind of pump are you running it on?

I've never heard a bad word about Euroreefs. They skim extremely well right out of the box, no need for modification.

does anyone possibly have a picture about the euroreef running externally to a sump?

and thanks amoore331, I think the negative comments I have heard have been from a very small percentage of hobbyists that just have bad luck. I am finding that on this forum the ER are promoted a lot!

I did not realize how expensive these external skimmers would be...

I might have to go to the Tunze for price and for it being compact!

Yeah they are not cheap check for a used one is the selling forums on here might score one for a fraction of the cost

thats what I am looking into.

As of right now tho even used the Deltecs, H&S, and even some ER's are just took expensive.

I might have to go with an AquaC or a Tunze also due to space

Ya those are going to be the 3 most expensive brand of skimmer next to bubble king. Check out Reef Octopus I am not sure what there price range but have heard good things about those skimmers.

deltecs have a good reputation over here, dont know if they are readily available in the usa though

ok, so now maybe the reef Octopus DNW 150? but cant find out if it is able to be run externally...

Yup it can be run externally I am not sure if I would get the DNW 200 for that size tank. I think that the DNW is what I would go with for a Total water volume of 200 gallons
