Hello,
I have a 75 gallon (48" long) with two 3/4" sea swirls for the return powered by a Mag18. My tanks is all SPS. I seem to not be getting enough flow towards the bottom of the tank. I was thinking of getting the Tunze 6000 with single controller. If I put the stream at one end of my tank would it produce good flow for the SPS? How far away from the stream does it take for the water to be widespread (would the sps near (above or next to) the stream get any current or only corals a little away from the stream)?

Thanks alot

The flow spreads out to 2 *2 after about 2ft of travel. The flow is suitable for corals about 6" away from the pump which itself is about 5" deep. In the area above and immediately to the side of the pump it will be fairly dead, in the area from point blank to 6" the flow might be a bit harsh for all but the most beefy acros.

so do you generally suggest pointing the pumps towards the glass etc to create more reflected randomness instead of direct current?

It depends but the flow does not have a great deal of pressure and you lose a lot if there are obstacles or you bounce it off the front glass. This can be useful if the flow is too high but in most cases it is best to have it blow the length of the aquarium at the longest path, unobstructed.
