Recommendations/Pictures of French Polynesia Scuba Trips

My husband and I visited Fiji last year for a diving vacation. It was our first time to the South Pacific. We've dove the Caribbean on numerous occasions as we're from Florida and now that we've visited the South Pacific, I doubt we'll ever make another scuba-purposed trip to the Caribbean ever again. However, the flights out to Fiji, Indonesia, GBR, etc. are way too far to go every year so we are considering French Polynesia as a closer option (only 8 hours from LAX!!). We're trying to decide on a trip for 2012 and need the opinions of reef keepers. The recommendations on dive sites are crap as they mainly care talk about where to see large fish. We like seeing large fish and all but would much rather see varied coral species. Please post pics of any trips you've taken to French Polynesia and let me know which islands are best for this type of diving. Thanks in advance:spin2:

Well if you want to see critters and obscure fish, I recommend the Philippines as a low cost high impact location. French Polynesia is known for its high current large fish.

French Polynesia is CRAZY expensive. If you want to go to the South Pacific, you may want to consider cheaper destinations like the Cook Islands. (My husband adored the diving there, but he was a new diver, so I can't say if someone more experienced would be impressed!)
