Recommended Cal, Alk and Mag Test Kits

I planned on getting the Apex controller. But I don't see where it tests calcium, alkalinity and magnesium. I assume this needs to be done separately. How do folks test for those parameters? Are there any automatic testers? Or are these parameters done manually through test kits?

Nyos makes calc/alk/mag tests.. you can purchase them from Marinedepot I believe.

I use the red sea pro kit for Cal and Mag. You can get refills for the reagents.

For ALK I use the hanna checker. You can get refills for that also. It costs a little more but it is fast and easy.

I guess I'm looking for fast and easy. I'm sure that equals 'cost more' but that's what I'd like.

I use Salifert: it returns precise numbers and is stamped with an expiration date, particularly important with the alk test.

Sorry Russ, the Apex doesn't do chemistry tests like Ca, alk or Mg. And there is no quick and easy why to do it. Buy test kits and do the work. If that's too much for you, hire the work out to somebody else...

+1

I like the Red Sea Pro kits for Cal and Mag, but I feel more confident with the Hanna Checker's Alkalinity results.
