hey guys im finding all kinds of PH meters and what not. I was wondering if there are any "go to" brands for keeping up on the water paramaters and what all should i be measuring?

I use HM digital for my TDS, PH, TEMP.
Idk if there are better, because I've never used the other ones..
For everything else I have Red Sea and Salifert test kits.

I would say your gonna want a controller of some sort to control lights.heater.dosers.fans.pumps..etc....and monitor pH and temp.....apex or reef keeper
And for testing I like salifert to test alkalinity.calcium.pH.nitrate.phosphates.and magnesium...
You can swing by and check out some stuff sometime.....

I wouldn't ever run a reef again with out a controller best piece of equipment you can purchase for your tank hands down.

There are a few good ones out there. the 2 most common are Neptune apex, and the refkeeper line. reefkeeper is much less $$$

Can you log pH swings with the reef keeper elite. I see you guys doing it with the Neptune apex

A controller I agree 100% with you Roger it is one of the best things to have a must to keep the reef aquarium stable and healthy....And make life easier for us

Don't hold me to it but I believe Reeftronics.net will log Reefkeeper data too. The big benefit is if reeftronics is unable to communicate with your controller for one hour, they will send you a text message. This is beneficial because you may be experiencing a power outage and it would alert you to get home and rectify the problem. Much cheaper than going the extra energy bar and ups route.

Do Not make the same mistake I made-- DO NOT BUY A REEFKEEPER!! Go with the Apex. The reefkeeper sucks to set up and the net doesnt work most of the time--it is very old technology. If you don't believe me just go their forum on their site and see the many many unhappy people. Always 10 pages of people with problems for just the elite. Brad
