Just a few pics, Minh you asked for them a long time ago.
Anyway I picked this up from a local fish store and it was bleached as white as snow and it had a bright blue base. This is about 6 months later or so and thought I would share a few pics of it.

Threw a couple other pics in too.. These were taken quickly with a cell phone.

VERY COOL. Looks like a very healthy gigantea. Great work! Would you happen to have any photos of it when you first picked it up? It would be nice to see a before and after.

Nope, I thought about it but didn't want to jinx myself, it was really bleached and had my doubts about bringing it back. I have brought back many of anemones from being bleached but this was my first Bleached gigantea.
They had two of them and was kicking myself for not buying the other.

The pick was after feeding two, usually it is more spread out during the day.

With the base being so blue I was hoping it would be more of a blue but it is a nice green with a hint of blue.

Very nice. I love all these healthy Gigantea. It is just going to be a mater to time until one of us have both sex, healthy enough anemones in our tank for reproduction

And a skimmer that will not freak out after ward. LOL

Hopefully one of us will set up a dedicated gigantea tank without a skimmer to aid in the fertilization process. Shu Tin (shutiny) had a dedicated gig tank, and reported having babies but was unable to grow them, but I think it was years ago. She recently took down her gig tank, so that ends one line of possible breeding. My guess is that she was the closest to succeeding on a hobbyist level. I searched for institutional research on gigantea a few times, and wasn't able to find anything regarding reproduction, mostly on nematocyst toxin and mobility.

I am thinking about dedicating half of my next upgrade to mags. What exactly was the problem with skimmer - as I am planning to use it mostly as oxygenating machine without collecting cup after tank DSB system will be taking over filtration responsibilities.

I remember that thread from the guy who cut up a gigantea.

Yes, it was a mess of a thread, which is why I didn't want to post a link to the entire thread. I remember reading it over and over when I got into gigantea. A few of those people who posted frequently on that thread are no longer active. This is a huge loss to our community, but I think threads like that one burned people out.

Shu Tin recently told me "you guys are the next gen that keep the hobby going" and she "passed the torch" to us, so to speak.

yes all healthy gigs and mags are beautiful. it so happens that there is a LFS I bought my current purple one from has around 5 blues and purples. this is the first time I've seen a shop have so many. all this week I have been looking at gig photos and wondering should I have got a blue instead of a purple. I am so tempted to get a blue to go with my purple but this being my first attempt with gigs, I'm not too sure if I am pushing my luck. then there the issue of real estate.
Check out how many he has for sale....

I am open to BIG sponsors if you want me to set up a gig reproductive tank ;)

Well I am bumping this instead of starting a new thread to show that is is still alive about another year and still doing well.. I go this completely Bleached. I know allot of people dont report back on progress.

This another saved anemone that was bleached. H Crispa. This anemone is going on maybe 3 years now.

I am throwing this in just so you can see how much growth there has been in some of the corals shown above mainly the orange cap and the M. spongodes.
