Rect. Trigger in hog heaven!

Just thought i would share. I just received my order of 25 margarita snails this morning and tried to get them in before my trigger woke up. Well it didnt matter cause he has flipped all 25 onto the substrate bottoms up and is making his rounds. I am hoping most stay put and hopefully make it until tonight so they can move and hide. But if not, I hope he enjoys his expensive treats, because i wont be adding these again. My hermit crab seems to not be bothered by the trigger, has anyone else had luck with keeping crabs with triggers in their tanks?

trigger food :)

trigger food :)

As far as keeping anything alive in my trigger tank ( Undulated ) I have a 48 gallon with about 75 lbs of live rock. As far as I am aware my trigger has eaten everything in the tank, the only thing he hasnt killed which I really dont know why is a purple spotted lobster. He found a rock he can hide in that the trigger cant get to... I know that must be a ****ty life to live for a lobster.
I am suprised your hermits are not gone yet... that is my triggers favorite food. A once a month treat for him... keep in mind that from what I am told a triggers stomach is a quarter the size of his eyeball. So 25 snails would be quite a meal.
The only other thing alive in the tank is a Mangrove shoot.
Did you put the snails in the tank to help with bio waste? or to help clean algea?

I am sure you have been told this before...
The best way to fix those two problems is... A. Decrease the amount of food you feed, and decrease the lighting time.
I know thats sucks but with a trigger eating clean up crews it is the best way to have a algae free tank.

well its a new tank so the algae was expected. I ve learned my lesson though, so no more snails until the trigger moves on in the far future. thanks for your reply
