Red Algae help

I am not sure what this stuff is, but it is starting to kill several of my corals. Any help on IDing and remedies will be much appreciated..

Looks like red turf algae. Very difficult to eradicate. Typical algae solutions do not work. I have really good results with Tuxedo Urchin.

Chemi clean. Will wipe it out. Doesn't hurt corals or fish. Turn skimmer off for 48 hours and then do a big water change. But you should look into why you are getting this anyways. Lack of flow, improper lighting, water change schedule, etc

I would suggest to save the Coral and get the Rock out.

It is growing over most of the rock in my 90G tank. Getting the rock out is not an option... unless I am restarting the tank.

I'd definitely try a tuxedo urchin. Chemiclean will not do anything to help.

Try to bring Mg level higher slowly with Kent Marine Tech M and use lots of Mexican Turbo snails.

If they are not Cyano then Chemi clean will not work. Magnesium raise is not work either. They grow in either clean water or dirty water (doesn't matter Nitrate or Phosphate high or low). Real Mexican Turbo will clean them up for you. I got them in my frag tank, I try all but not work untill I got 20 Mexican Turbo snails then all gone in 2 weeks.

Thanks for the input everyone. I have tried Tech M, with no dent in the red algae. It does look like some mexican turbos will be my next attempt.

I went through this a few months back. I raises the mag to 1400 with tech m and that slowed it down and the Mexican turbo took care the rest.

Fun fact, high levels of magnesium kills snails.

Snails did not make a noticeable dent

What's the levels when this happens? I had it at 1400 an the turbos survived.

I had my mag at 1900 to deal with briopsis and didnt lose any snails, but they sure looked sluggish my zoas and SPS lost color with the high mag and slowly recovering.

I was dosing and squirting peroxide over the rock and the algae would turn white then it would bounce back to full bloom. At this point all my corals were brown as well.
