Red BTA?

Hey guys, I have a large red bubble tip nem that I was thinking on selling. He has grown too fast and is currently taking up about a 1/5th or more of my tank that i am woshing I had for other livestock. Whats a fair price on these? Of course if you call a LFS they say "œoh I can get those for 40 bucks so ill give you 50" kind of deal. Id say during daylight peak its about 8-10" across. Any thoughts? Im trying to attach a picture but failing miserably. Just off the top of your heads?

And any offers? :fun2:

Didnt think to ask around at the frag swap today! Never crossed my mind. I guess I was a little to wide eyed at everything there

$50-60 cash is fair. Stores charge $100 for large RBTA’s.

If it were me I would try to sell to local reefer instead of a trade in at the LFS....you will most likely get more money for it. I would guess at a LFS you would get what Nanook said maybe 50-60 bucks....I saw a 12 inch RBT the other day at a LFS for 165.

I had one the size of a half dollar when I bought it several years ago....it split 3 times...now I have 4. The two largest ones are 12 inches each...

Ah ok so t is a fair price. For some reason I had thought more. I may just it take to the store then and try for 50. I really want it out of the way more than anything. Thanks guys!

The price used to be higher, but they have become more common because of their popularity. Nowadays the big money is spent on anemones known as "rainbow anemones" containing both red and green at a minimum. You can get really big bucks for anemones with a fair amount of natural yellow in them too, but RBTAs, unfortunately, are just too easy to find, despite their beauty.

With that said, I'm in the market for one or two of them, but I would also expect to pay $40-$50, so LFS may be the way to go if you have a good relationship with one already.
