I saw like to bugs to no telling how many I have. But I can't get interceptor as I don't have a dog or rx.

1.) Is is their another way to get ride of them?

2.) Or a place where I can buy interceptor without a rx?

eric Borneman has been testing Ivermectin, and he says it looks promising so far, but he needs people to send him redbug infested colonies so he can test even further with the product. But right now, the tried and true methid is Interceptor. Not sure where you can get them without an Rx, but you might try petmeds.com or some place.

There will be no place in the US where you can get it without a prescription. Maybe it can be ordered from Canada or something.

Their site says a prescription is required. I wonder if that is for their protection only and they just ignore the requirement if no prescription is provided. Maybe they figure no one will really enforce it.

Aslo how much to use on a 55 gallon tank?

I got a report from a friend that Tropic Marins new coral dip did indeed knock off RB's from an infested acro frag.

The bottle also says it will take care of flatworms also.

Where did you find this at?

MLFS is now carrying al types of new Tropic Marin ,Supplements, additves and coral dips. Specifically targeted toward coral groups.

I am going to go down and get some myself for sh.....and giggles.

I have plenty of rb infested corals to try it out on . I even have those darn AEFW's

okay I just talked to my buddy again . It called pro coral cure.

It specifically speacks of flatworms and nest/eggs found on underside of acroporids . It also talks about killing those hard to see paristes that usally we don't see until the damage is done .

The frag that was treated had double PE and has no signs of a RB insght.........

I am excited and can't wait to try it out on my corals...........

However it is NOT a FULL TANK TREATMENT ONLT A DIP.

FWIW, people here [with and without dogs] have honestly approached a friendly Vet about it ... and gotten Interceptor.

In fact, a member of our reef club talked to a Vet friend, who was able to prescribe a whole box of Interceptor ... evidently for his large dog pack ;)

Having printed threads/articles [including Dustin's] seem to be quite helpful in many cases. As does finding a vet who also is an aquarist. Maybe a prescription is required - but it seems that some vets are willing to work around it - or to prescribe it for your tank.

Not simple, and I'd imagine a good relationship with a vet [and dog] would go a long way. But ... quite a few folks have gotten it through honesty with a vet.

You are treating an animal [coral] for a disease ... and quite a few vets IMO will be suprised + respectful if you sit down, explain the situation, how Interceptor works in what dosage for the tank, and ask for their help in caring for your animals. IME, generally they like very dedicated pet owners ... and chances are, you're one of them.

Just my take - but IMO if you have a friend with a dog + a vet they like - worst you can hear is `no'.

So what is in this Pro-Coral Cure ?

The ad says iodine solution? Can that be all? We know that does not kill RB/Fw.

What about AEFW egg clutches?

not sure but once i get some myself I will reconfirm the RB's coming off.

I trust my friend so I am not doubting it will remove RB's.

I know 100% iodine will kill the eggs.

Heavy Iodine dosing will do a number on red bugs - or so Eric B. claimed a year + ago.
But - dosing levels were near what was toxic for the coral ... so perhaps not the best solution.

Wonder what's in the TM stuff. Are we sure they're talking AEFW planaria, or Acoel flatworm planaria?

That cure is aimed at acros specifically.

Otherwise I don't know ...........But I have also never seen none AEFW eggs on an acro.

SO who knows.

Maybe we need Randy to scrutinize it for us ;)
