Red Bugs

like Reef264 said, you can get the beefy chewable kind from australia, mine took 2 weeks to arrive. i was able to get it here in the states but the vet charged me $50 a pop for the small dog size

the beef chewable are what i have coming in the mail. i think. How would you get them to dissolve so it does the job? Im only going to dose in a ten gal tank with all my acros in it. How much should i use?

you have to grind it up into a fine powder before adding water to it. the big pill for large dogs 50-100 lbs will treat 400 gallons of water. It's ok to overdose it, just get your inverts out

Red bugs will not attack montis, millis or birds nest but any acro is fair game.

You realize what we call millis are Acropora millepora? So your statement of "any acro is fair game" contradicts your statement that redbugs will not attack millis.

The corals that are genus Millepora (versus genus Acropora specie millepora) are fire corals, and belong to an entirely different class, order and family than do Acropora sp. corals.

my next question. I dont have a skimmer to put in the ten gal qt. Can I use a hang on filter with some carbon in it to clear out the interceptor? I will do the water change and add the carbon the next day.

Mail came. Interceptor is here! I want to start the treatment next weekend, but now one has responded to my last question. I hope I didnt break any reefers code by not posting where i got it from. Im just new here and dont want to get red flaged or something. JUST WANT TO KILL THOSE LITTLE RED BUGS!!!

I used 2 five gallon pails, and a 10 gallon qt, all mixed with new water, and then matched temp and ph with my tank, first 5 gallon pail had treatement, second was for rinsing, 10 gallon was to house them for a week so the red bugs in my display could die, on my 10 gallon was a heater, air stone, and small power head, a DIY 5 X 3 watt led strip, and small bag of carbon ( carbon was in low flow area to prevent breaking up or grinding the carbon)

after i was done my treatement, i found my red sea prizm skimmer, so now i have that tank setup as a QT for ANYTHING that goes into my display, after my achillies caught ich, and my display caught red bug, i have FINALLY learned the lesson when it comes to QT'ing stuff.... lol
