Looks to me like Royal Exclusiv must be ready to launch the new Speedy pumps. Looks like they've stopped shipping the original red dragons... Can anyone explain?

The Red Dragon flow pumps are no longer being stocked in North America. The new Speedy DC pumps will be replacing these.

We are hoping to see the first pumps over here in late March or early April.

are the alpha cones 200 going to be shipped with the new pump? I'm about to buy one of these and if they will come with the new pump, I rather wait for it

No, the Alpha's will still have the Askoll pump. It will be a while until any of the skimmers are changed over to the DC pump, and even then it will first be on the Super Marin and Deluxe line.

So the alpha's 200 will have an askoll instead of a red dragon pump?

No, the Alpha's will still use a Red Dragon pump - they are not changing. "Red Dragon I" skimmer pumps are base off an Askoll motorblock.

Wow - wonder why they quit - supposed to be a great pump. I am looking fro a great return pump as well and this type of pump is super efficient and quiet- are they breaking down and have warranty issues?

They are still manufactured, just not sold as a stock item in the North American market, mostly due to price.

I have a bunch of the red dragon 1200. I noted some pix that look like there are housing parts available now that will hook to US plumbing better. Is this accurate?

And if so is it possible to get some of these newer housing pieces. Thinking of getting back in the hobby and it would make plumbing a whole lot easier

We can look at special ordering them in for you. Which model pumps do you have exactly?

Yeah, probably almost 4 years. I am starting a new tank, but very modest. I am gonna use a 4.5 m3. The original design. I don't know exact model number but will post when I get it.
