I picked up a large piece of LR ealier this week for my 40gal that appears to have come with a disturbingly large red eyed crab, Eriphia Sebana, or the captive reef equivilent there of. Im under the impression that he should be removed and am looking for advice.

Right now Im leaning toward a 5 gal bucket of fresh water, however, the rock is covered in some shrooms, one large green hairy, I would like to preserve. How long can I dip the rock in an effort to disable the crab without adversly effecting the shrooms?

If you can take the rock out, find where the crab is hiding and hit that hole with a turkey-baster of seltzer/soda water. He should run out of the carbonated water and you can catch him without having to dip the whole rock. Have a pair of needle-nose pliers (to pull him off) or an old tooth brush (to knock him off) on hand.

thanks DD. that sounds like something easy to try first. I know exactally which hole is his, so hopefully its just that easy. Thanks again.

Got him. Though, the seltzer seemed only maginally effective. Good stab to the ribs worked though. Thanks for all the tips guys.
