I seem to stumble around the use of strobe lighting. But I finally got a simple little umbrella to play around with.

First some color

Real sweet!!! The first and second are very beautiful!!!! It looks like the strobe really helps get rid of the backround and really makes the color show. He looks like he's waving!!!

Those are great, nice detail and very sharp.

Do you have them in front of a black background or is that just good use of lighting to remove the background?

haha perhaps both!

I have a black sheet draped about three feet behind them. The umbrella was placed about 1.5 feet away at about 45 degrees to the left or right. I was shooting at max sync speed to get rid of all ambient light.

Gorgeous shots... The black background really makes their colors pop and keeps a nice focus on the grayscale... I wonder if any one's tried using a sheet of black acrylic in a tank to create the same effect
