red fin waspfish questions ???

hello everyone, I read a tread several days ago about waspfish(red fin) & I agree there very cool looking fish & their really appealing to me! one guy asked if they eat shrimp(also wondering about crabs)? I did not see a reply to this Question....do they eat shrimp or crabs??? there's one on diver's den that looks real nice & would like to get it. also wondering about feeding? once the fish settles into its new home, will it ever feed with all the other fish I have? the fish gather towards the top & middle of tank...will this fish join in the feeding frenzy or will it have to be target feed? thanks!

Red fins stay pretty small so as long as the shrimp or crabs aren't bite size they should be fine, but there's always a chance. They might eventually eat pieces from the water column but I would t count on it, it will most likely have to be target fed

Jarrod pretty much said it all.

Another consideration is that waspfish really can't hold their place in the water column very well, lacking a functional swim bladder and all, so unless it "learns" the skill (some waspfish do), it will stay on the bottom of the tank or on the rockwork as opposed to getting into the "feeding frenzy".

thanks guys, valuable information I need because I did pull the trigger & bought the one on diver's den yesterday. maybe oneday it can with training , I hope, will feed with the others cause my rocks are kind of close to the surface where I usually feed the group. if it could learn that spot at feeding time that would really be good! thanks again!!!

yes, great article! I do have one of those blasters with a red plastic tip on the end that I could use.....I'm sitting here waiting for my order as we speak! don't know why, but all my orders from divers den have came by fed X. this time it's coming by way of UPS? usually my stuff would be in the water by now! hope it doesn't come late this evening.... I like to get my livestock in the tank(after 1 hour of drip acclimate) ASAP & before my lights come on!
