Red Haddoni carpet anemone question with Pic

I've had the carpet for over 9 months but the towards the tentecles seem to just not be there, almost bare. I'm running 24 cree diy leds about 24" above where the anemone is. It does not get blasted with flow.

I've searched through threads but haven't found an answer to why this is. Too much light? Not enough light? Not enough flow? If anybody knows that would greatly appreciated.

The one next to it is also a haddoni that was a recent addition. But the red one has been like that long before the new one was introduced. Any thoughts on why the red carpet would do that with its tentacles?

The two percs never really left the red unless to eat. But now they are exploring the new one more.

It looks bad, have you had that lps coral by it long?

No other corals are near it to get stung. That's a green polyped leather closest to it butI don't believe they have stinging powers.

It doesn't have enough light. When haddoni's are in low light environments, they expand the tissue between the tentacles to allow more light to reach their zooxanthellae. This is why the anemone seems to have so many bald areas. Increase the lighting, and the anemone will close off those bald spots.

It looks bleached, maybe the blue is crowding it into the rock not allowing it to get enough light. Here's a link to a thread about the one I have.

I don't think the new blue anemone is causing this problem and the red anemone doesn't appear to be bleached..... just yet.

perhaps not enough lighting since day one?

position of the anemone (shaded underneath a rock shelf) might be at least partly responsible for not getting enough light but I'd love to see that red haddoni under a 250w 14k SE Ushio metal halide!

From what I've read Haddoni's are less light demanding for a carpet. I figured the 24 led's would be enough for it. I can add 2 T-5s and see if it helps along with additional feedings. Thanks

Gary MH would be ideal but heat and electricity costs have turned me to LEDs.
