Red Hair Algae. . . . you are my last hope

I've talked to everyone in some other forums, everyone at my LFS, and the interenet. So far, I've found a name: Asparagopsis. This seems to be what I have growing in my tank. Specifically of the stage sporophyte. The mature form is called gametophyte. So far, it's all sporophyte. IT looks prettymuch like green hair algae, but it's red or pinkish. I can't seem to stop it. From what I've read, it comes from nitrites. I've tested, and I get 0 nitrites. 0 ammonia, and 0 nitrates, too. pH 8.2, SG 1.025, phosphates 0, temp 79.5. it's a 50 gal reef. I've read that the Diadema urchins will eat it, but I don't know if I wanna put urchins in my tank, for they will knock over my rocks (they're not glued). I also read that nudibranch of the genus Aplysia and Hermaea. I don't think they sell these. I know that lettuce nudibrachs (forgot their genus) are known to eat hair algae, but I'm not sure about RED hair aglae. Please help me. I've been battling this stuff for 2 months now!!

I've though about a lawnmower, but I'm not sure if he'll eat this stuff. Think it's worth a shot? (I kinda wanted one at some point, anyway)

hmm, i cna find out if he eats it. can u send me over some of that red hair algae, and i'llput it in my blenny's tank and see if he goes after it.....

You, know. . . I never thought of that. That may be the best idea yet. Screw the book research; just find someone with a blenny and plop it in! What part of Cali are you from?

sorry for da late responce. i live in LA. Van Nuys, CA, 91405 kinda far from where ya are :( hey, if u know anyt ppl working at other lfs's, ask them if they could help ya out in that sense?

ah, yes! that thread is the answer! I'm not alone! Thank you so much.

And thank you WorldNation for that idea. I'll bring some into my LFS and see if they can find something that eats it!
