Red hair coming from acans?

I've got this scans that has been doing great. Started with 3 heads a couple months ago and has about 6 new heads around it. A week or so ago I started to see these long strands near it but they're multiplying. Is it just some kind of algae or something else? Its the stuff on the right of the frag disk.

picture is crappy and not really focused but I'll bet you have some cyanobacteria growing there..

Are you sure thats not tentacle extension. Some arcans have sone pretty decent extensions. But the color is not what I would think. If algea a good cleanup crew is either on break or not employed.

Tentacle extension only comes from the center where the outer color layer and middle section meet up.

I agree looks like cyano, how's the flow in that area of your tank?

Flow is probably medium for the tank. After checking out cyano, it looks like that's what it is.
