Red macro pics

This grew out of a rock that I think I got with my 55 ($12/lb for LR) but we wont go there.

I've never seen it before. Now that I dont have any tangs it's growing like a weed. I love it. Pauline likes it but she thought it was a coral

I havent positively identified it yet but I think Pricilla would love it! Thankfully, she wont fit in the tank!!!

I had some of that... Can't remember what exactly it was... But something eventually ate it... I think maybe a mithrax crab... Glad you got something for $12/lb... lol


Your clam seems to be doing well under the t5's... How are your other two???

I only have 2 clams (purple[big] and blue). the small one(blue) is on the sand and doing well even under t5s. I've never spot fed it but I do feed cyclops 1-2 times a week to the whole tank.

Sounds like you're enjoying your 30! Did you end up making a sump/fuge for it? I am really not happy with my Remora HOB skimmer. Sends micro bubbles into the tank and just don't like it. Thinking of finding someone to cut a weir on the top left of my tank! Then get a 20g or so sump!

I need to check out your system sometime! Also need to get you over to my school to drop some advice on the 90g we're working on.

I bet she would absolutely love it!! hah hah. She'd mow it down in about 5 minutes too...she's my big algae machine. Linus actaully does really well with getting stuff off the rocks.

I just got some red algae from a LFS here in Nashville because I thought it looked cool. I got out my Algae book and tried IDing it. Mine seems to be Halymenia. It looks very similar to yours except that mine has more feathery looking tips (pointed, not rounded). I'm sure there are a lot of different growth forms and probably a few different closely related varieties.

What I'm curious about is whether or not it will turn sexual, like I've heard some other algaes can do, and really mess up the tank. Until I can determine that, it is going to sit in my frag tank.

Priscilla would gourge herself. I had a mass of that in the 10 from work and dropped it in for Dart (the purple tang) and he destroyed it.
