LA offers Red Margins from Fiji, Vanuatu, and Indonesia. Are there differences in coloration from each region? I believe my lfs said the ones from Vanuatu are nicer if I recall correctly. Post pics if you could please!
yep different location different colour variation.
fiji and vanuatuan ones are nicer with a horizontal pink band on the dorsal area near the caudal penduncle. larger male specimens have a more prominent blackish belly with numerous yellow spots.
indonesian variants do not have the extra pink band on the body.
here are two pictures and i've circled the differences for you
google Cirrhilabrus rubrimarginatus and you'll see more pictures. and you can make a better comparison.
You, are awesome.
Thanks so much. Do they need a female in order to achieve/retain those colors? I currently have a trio of flames, a solarensis, a blue side, a lubbocki, two small unknown red females from Bali, a social, and a radiant wrasse. Would there be any aggression factor here when adding the red margin and would these wrasses be enough to get him into those colors?
I have a 400 gallon with a medium amount of rockwork, should be okay?
I've also heard red margins can be aggressive towards other fairies? I plan on stocking more fairies in the future such as rhomboids etc. Should I wait for my other wrasses first before adding a red margin?

I've a 5"+ male that's in with 2 female Rhomboids, male Lineatus, male McCosker and male Lubbock's fairy and he doesn't bother any of the other fairies. The smallest is the Lubbock's but he's the most established and will chase the 2 Rhomboids every now and then.
Here's my order of intro:
Lubbock
Pink Margin
Rhomboid
McCosker
Lineatus
