Red or blue led for biocube

If your looking for a moonlight then these will be alright, if your looking to actually grow corals with that light then you gonna be stuck to just softies I imagine. Marineland is general is a pretty poor quality manufacturer, for saltwater at the very least. To be honest most brands you'll find at big chain stores tend to be kinda crap, Coralife being another example.

Speaking from experience, don't cheap out and buy the cheapest equipment you can find. You will only regret it later on as you go through the forum and find great build threads with amazing looking corals. When I first set up my 75 gallon I cut corners to try and save money and I regretted it the entire time I had the tank running. This time with my new tank I'll be saving up the money to buy the higher quality equipment from the start.

I would suggest keeping an eye on local classifieds for a good deal on a MH or T5 light fixture to throw on your Biocube. With either of those options you'll be able to grow almost anything you want, while still saving some money. I would also suggest with either fixture you look into purchasing new bulbs unless the seller assures you of the bulbs length of use.

To answer your question though, blue. Red is a nice idea and would look neat every once and a while but most LED people say that red is a very overpowering colour and need a bunch of other LEDs to wash it out.
