Red/orange Monti given to me

I was picking up some cheato from a local reefer, and he also gave me a branch of monti since he had to trim his back since it was overtaking his tank. It is the broad type. I have never kept corals and my tank is young. he said just tuck it in a rock crevis, keep moderate to high light on it, and make sure you keep you calcium up and it should do great. Anything else I should know?

yeah i think it will be okay as long as your nutrients are low and you have it in a high/random flow environment as well, I wouldnt worry too much about it, see how it does and let us know :)

And your so lucky to get a free coral, my LFS doesnt even have sps so i have to go all the way up to buffalo if i wanted to buy one

The same reefer is debating going completely sps, and is currently mixed reef. He seemed very willing to frag out many of the corals he is debating getting rid of, including mushrooms, softies, zoas, well alot of stuff. It was a very nice very well established tank.
