Red planet 2.5 month growth.

Under 10 k light second swithced to 20 k.

Seems to be a fast grower, not the fastest. It encursts like a milli and is hairy like a milli. I was hoping it was going to be a hyacinthus.

I have the red planet and the red Hyacynthus that I got from Atlantis. I need to take some side by side shots. I don't think the red planet is a hyacynthus but of course its difficult to tell from a frag.

I have the red planet and a pink/red milli. Side by side they look like they are frags from the same coral! My red planet has developed a whitish growth tip as has my pink milli. Go figure, it has lost most of it's green base!

It's not ORA's prices that are getting high it's greedy retailers that are charging the unreal prices. I have a LFS near me that sells newly released ORA frags cheaper than online, he also only charges $60 for Picasso Clowns. He sells the pearl berry for $49 and I got the red planet for the same price.

I'm not the high price defender here, but ORA has raised their
wholesale prices on these to $30 each throw in the fact that they
must buy at least $300 in fish to even order frags ( max of 1), plus the cost
of Salt, Lighting, shipping, and other overhead......whew.
If I had a fish store, I would charge what supply and demand
dictates.

I'm friends with the owner and it's only $200 in fish which he say's in nothing, and yeah ORA charges $30 for some of the new frags but not all, also a store charging $60 for a frag is still 100% profit.

On the surface that is true, however there is an entire store that
exists around that one frag, so the margin would be very different
if you take all factors into consideration. Maybe ORA is giving your
LFS a deal for volume or something, but I am pretty sure the
standard is $300.
I want a good deal as much as the next guy, but I would say that
Online retailers are way more out of line than those that have to
open a brick and mortar business every day.
Like I said, this is my oppinion. It does not make it the right one,
or yours the wrong one

Well I was thinking $30 to $89 that is a bit. But looking at most pet stores I am not sure how well they are doing.

Yes, I am sure that some markets can create enough volume to
support lower prices, but I know most fish stores are barely
making it. It's a matter of perspective I think. Is it more or less
greedy to get a bali aquacultured coral for $25- 30 total cost, and
sell it for $89 - $120 , or better yet frag it into 15x $20 frags. I would say that the margins on most retail items are in line with those of the LFS notwithstanding the attrition and electrical costs
associated with such an indeavor.
I do think that online is way out of line when you consider the fact
that they even pass on the shipping. But, if people will pay $100
for a tiny frag of Super Purple Nurple Acropora, than who am I to
get in the way of Free Market Capitolism. After all loving the
hobbie is a great reason to open a store, but the objective of any
business should be to make a profit.

BTW it's good to see the green coming back in your frag. I still
have mine under 10k in my frag tank, and was hoping this would
be the case. It does look like a milli to me.

100 percent markup get the terms straight as they mean two things


as for ora. the 200 buck fish order is a pita since the fish get sick so easily >< my guess is because they are captive they have very lil imunity when mixed in with lfs that have wild fish

I'll second that. I have both in my system and they don't look like they are the same species. The Red Planet looks much more milli-ish. Mine has also colored up very nicely under T5 "blue plus" bulbs.
