Red planet coloration

WHat does it take to get decent color, most of them Ive seen are pale red usually no green. When they are fresh from ora they have a nice red and green color. What do they need to color up? Any one have pics of their own nicely colored up RP, please post them with your parameters

Lower light actually. If you pound them with light they tend to lose the green and become more reddish pink.

I had mine up high under 400W MH's maybe 1/4 of the way down

It now sits a little more then half way down and i have noticed a big difference in the amount of green. Will try to snap a pic of it now when I get home.

Also noticed that the older growth seems to have more of the green while the newer growth comes in more pinkish

My RPT is completely green (lighting is definitely on the lower end of things). When I got it, it was red at the edges/ tips, but now just green. Growing fine (it's still tiny), encrusting like a mutha.

400K radiums with 2x48" Reefbrites. Want to say par in that spot is about 150ish but I can't remember.

Also FWIW I basted the coral o the polyps would retract. It is extremely hairy.

My RP is has become bright pink with white base. Too much light? Tank too clean? Anyone have any advice? Thanks

RP definately like the lower light when it comes to MH bulbs. Mine is coloring up nicely and I have it half way down with a 150 hqi.

Lower light will give em that more deep reddish color with a green base. Ive got mine placed on the lower/center of my tank running an 8x54w T5 Constellations fixture. Fixture is approx. 6" above the surface.

It was pretty much white with red polyps when I first aquired it from a local hobbyist and now the encrusted base is green and the branches/polyps are a maroon/red color!!!

mine has kept the green base..but grows pretty slow for me. I use 2x250w radiums with 2x39w geisemenn actinic+ T5's. its pretty much in the middle of the tank

Im getting jelous, I lost all of the green in mine and can't get it to come back. The base of my Red Planet is 14" beneath the surface directly under a 250-watt Radium in Lumenarc. Should I try to move it further down or off to the side a little?

^^^ mine pretty much located the same as yours and my green has stuck.

My bulbs were only about 6" above the water. A week ago, I raised them up to 11" above the surface of the water. How high are your bulbs? I think I will leave my RP where it is for now and see if the raised lighting helps bring some green back.
