Red planet coloration

I got a small 1/4" stick a couple weeks ago. It hasn't colored up yet, but the base sure is encrusting fast. I hope it ends up looking like the ones above. Very Nice!

I kinda dig the green though.

:)

How bad do you want it? fresh cut single stick Id say $10-15, for a nice encrusted healed multibranch $20. Its a fast grower.

If it is at the LFS and straight from ORA on their plug still it is going to cost more than that. Probably closer to $50.

My ORA Red Planet arrived with a green base as well, but under 14k 400 watt halide lights, the coral has turned solid red.

i cant get mine either red or green. its been bleached since i got it 2 months ago. i moved it again this weekend, hopefully itll start getting coloration soon

It is hard to see in the pic but the lower encusting area does still have green, top branches with the most light are all red/pink.

I have a red planet in a 175g tank. Middle placement under 250w mh 14k phoenix bulbs. The new growth is white. Not sure if getting too much light or not enough.

30in tall tank with lights about 10 inches from water

Any suggestions?

Not a big fan of ORA for the prices they ask. There is an online store here in TO that sells for 50 bucks a pop. Seems high. Especially when the green color goes away. Then it looks just like a red milli (which is not bad at all).

Mike...be careful because often ORA corals or others are passed off as something they are perhaps not in Canada. There is no way to legally get ORA corals across the border from my understanding. Also any that I have seen is not sold on the ORA plug which means they did not come direct from ORA, so you should trust your source.

I would pay $50 for some of the nicer ORA frags....and have. But I want to be sure that is what I'm getting for that price...not a look a like.

Some very pretty pictures!

I've seen difference colorations at my LFS and they swear it was the Red Planet, sure enough they were on those black ORA plugs.

I suppose different parameters change the coloration of the coral.

i am able to retain the green base under my T-5's.i also had this frag under a 250w radium before switching and it had a green base.right now it is placed just above mid tank under med/high flow.
