That's great to hear! Did you ever have any trouble with your lid on the skimmer box popping up? ... does it sit tightly in place?

No skimmate yet in my new Tunze ...

I had a little problem at first, but it settled down once it was wet. The tunze wobbles a little , but does a pretty good job thus far. I installed the media today and will await the results ! :D

OK, is it just my RSM or does the water level need to be all the way up to the black plastic edging for the two return pumps to not shoot bubbles?

Thanks!

dxtr - on the bubbles - have you got the skimmer running? New RSM skimmers, and even most skimmers, will put out bubbles for a while, till they break in. With not much in the tank and no bio-load to skim, that's another possible reason for the bubbles. If you have the skimmer on, turn it off and see if the bubbles go away? Is that salt on the bottom that hadn't dissolved yet? With nothing in the tank I'd turn the skimmer off & see what happens - nothing to skim anyway. Based on the pictures it looks like your water level is high enough for the 2 pumps to not be starved. How's the water level in the pump chamber - close to the top of the 2 pumps? Have you got the gate lowered all the way? Could the white pad be plugged up with undissolved salt? If the pad is OK, and the bubbles are still there with the skimmer off, be sure that bottom snap on sections of the pumps haven't fallen off one or both pumps - that little piece can be knocked off too easily if you're not careful in installing the pumps. It could even be air that was still trapped in the sponge and/or any media you have in there, and the pumps are just spitting out air bubbles released from somewhere else. Those are my suggestions for now :)

Reefmack - thanks for all of the suggestions!

I have the gate all the way open, and the water level is now high enough to not starve the pumps.

The skimmer is off and this morning it appears that the micro bubbles are gone. I'm going to keep the skimmer off until I get the LR in there. I was mainly curious that the water level needs to be that high. I think I may do a MJ1200 mod soon so it can pull water from lower in the chamber...

Yes, that was undissolved salt in the bottom, which was gone before adding the sand yesterday. :D However, I'll check the filter pads as i didn't think of that. Thanks

I noticed quickly how easily those bottom sections fall off. I think i had to reach to the bottom about 5 times to retrieve them...LOL

Thanks!

StevieTdrill - you should hit 100 posts tonight or tommorow and get your drill. Do a couple "nice tank" posts on another thread if you want to hit 100 quickly ;)

oh, I am going to hit it today, even it it takes 8 or so pointless posts. I am sick of this stupid rodent :)

LOL. Nice Tank!

So Stevie - you are "making a Fuge/media rack that will slide in where the stock skimmer is? I would love to see that when it is complete as I haven't had a skimmer in my tank for a year or so and everything is doing quite well. granted it is a 14g biocube; however, with the obligatory water changes, everything seems to be thriving quite nicely.

sweet, a new RSM!

Yes, I am going to get to it this weekend. It will slide in after you remove the stock junky skimmer, it should hold a good amount of chaeto, the basket is around 4-5" wide. My media basket be under the intake, then some flow directors onto the chaeto chamber, then to the heater

sounds good Stevie, I'm looking forward to seeing some pics of it.

Keep posting, only 4 more to go!

hahaha, I will post pictures of it before I ship it to be tested. The tank that it is going to go into has just stared the cycle. So I suppose the flow can be tested, but the chaeto can wait.

I am more concerned about the flow working, the RSM is so senstitive.

3 more to go! haha, I shall spend more time here today who wants to work on a Friday?!

It's funny how problems are so different. I have low pH and an algae bloom so and am guessing my CO2 levels are high. I added an airstone last week to try and get the CO2 down. The algae is better in just a couple days and I haven't tested pH yet to see if it changed.

Kind of ironic that I'm adding airstones while others are trying to figure out how to get rid of air bubbles ;)

congratz on 100 Stevie!

Nice Drill. =)

woohoo... it's funny cause some days I have almost 100 posts on another forum..

kind of blurrr, RC only allows 8K or so so you loose some.

Ah, but it is really clear elsewhere :D

Welcome to the big board! Hope you stick around a while (at least on this thread!)

Brent F - Your new Avatar.... Who is that??? Big day tomorrow for your family!!! Congratulations!!!

I haven't been around for the last several pages.... Have to earn a living with my client's dogs. :) Always a fun day! The feathered guy is a joy and settling in.... and Reefmack is p#*&%d at me!

I have been credited with stirring up the SHOT on this thread.... so here I go again!

I let my Red Slime Bubble Algae outbreak GO and it has run it's course and subsided.... Like Brent suggested, the algae probably consumes and locks up the phosphate in the tank. Hmmm? Why not let it EAT it? My warped thinking i guess...

My very actively eating and apparently healthy Royal Gramma showed signs of ICH a week ago after being in my tank for more than a month. My Ocellaris Clown and Cardinalfish are PIGS and show no signs of ICH. Hmmmm? How did that happen I wondered??? Maybe the Gramma's immune system was compromised and somehow allowed the parasite to attack??? Why aren't my other two fish infected????

I finally got to a highly recommended LFS "Exotic Aquatic".
I asked Rob what I should do to help my Gramma fight the ICH.... He said, "Have you treated the tank for "Flukes"? Huh????
He said that they commonly weaken the fish and allow ICH to attack.....
OK! Makes sense! I'm on board! I purchased reef safe "PrazilPro" and he was also enthusiastic about Garlic Xtreme being added to the water for frozen food!

Bottom line is that my Royal Gramma is hanging in their and my other fish are VERY HEALTHY.....

OK... I'm late to get "fruit cup"..... going much slower than most of you!

Here's a full tank shot:

Thanks to the old man.... my mentor Reefmack
I rearranged my corals and they are ALL GROWING LIKE weeds!

Anybody know what these are? No shells, teardrop shaped white worms or mollusks inside my canister, enjoying a detritus dinner.

Let the great ICH debate begin ONCE again!

Kent a.k.a. NaCl+H2O Fish

Can't help you witht he ICH (knocks on wood) as I haven't experienced that nasty parasite.

However, could the "tear drop shaped worms" be Q-tip sponges?
I have a billion of them in the sump for my 110g and from what I read are beneficial to a reef tank.

any chance of closer picture of the Royal Gramma?

Ok would an Ozonizer unit be compatible the with stock skimmer. Prob not but looking for info. Let me know the reasons why it would not. Would an ozonizer help with the skimmate if it was combatible. How about I just not run any skimmer. I hate my stock unit and do not want to drop the $ for the 9002 yet. Blah, it is noisy and if I could untimately not run it I would be happy, but I have many specimens, only 1 fish so far. I am just mad and jumping the gun I think.
