red slime alage and prodibio

I do not know if Prodibio is the sole cause. What I do know is that prodibio is an additive and not a magic potion. I also have experiences that my tank tends to get cyano at only two times of the year; at fall and at spring. I know that we live in two different places, but I have been using prodibio for 7 months so I just wanted to provide you with my experience. Good luck.

I just ordered the bioclean and booster. Any advice? I'm going to see if I can nip my green hair algae in the bud. I siphon the sand twice a week and it's always really dirty. I have a heavy fish load and I hope it will clean it up some.

Reefbooster is basically an amino acid for once the tank cleans itself. Many start out with biodigest and Bioptim once a week; dosing each on everyother week.

Thanks--the instructions with it are similar or is that what has worked for you? How long after doing the bioclean duo would you dose the booster? One tank is 18mos old and one is 8mos old. The older one has only what I allow to grow on the back glass for the tangs. The other has a few rocks with some hair depsite heavy tang and hermit/snail populations.

how come after dosing more than 6 months i still have red slime ?

I had a similar issue, while dosing vodka my tank started to develop red cyano. I wound up quiting the Vodka, and went to siphoning, water changes, and cutting back feeding. Nothing was working. I started on the Brightwell Aquatics carbon dosing system, and still no good. I started to notice there was alot of spillover light from my fishroom lighting the tank at night. I changed my light cycles around to provide a 6 hour dark period and within a few days the cyano was gone. My tank is located in the basement so I dont have to contend with sunlight and such. HIH

I noticed an increase in cyano as well after dosing bioptim and bioclean. However, like mpoletti said, I get cyano twice a year when the temp starts to change.

guys i am having a cyano problem while using prodibio...water tests well

what should i do..??? should i treat it??

i have now had the algae for like 2 months...overall the rock is clean, i did need to use algae fix for a few weeks to get rid of some hair algae that i had..

currently no nitrates and no phosphates..

I am tempted to go back to traditional setup with refugium... my lps dont seem to like ulns

I have heard both good and bad things about red slime. However, I used it on a small outbreak of red slime and it worked like a charm. Good Luck

i used a lot of janitor cleaning crews like scarlet ,blue leg red leg hermit, snails to clean my tank ,,never had the problem with algea,,give them a try ,but you have to reloaded them every six months.

BIOclean.....AMAZING stuff...not snake oil...If your system gets out of wack..bioclean puts it back in line....this stuff is worth every penny.
