Red Slime Algae

I have red slime algae and have been doing 20 percent weekly water changes and have done several lights out which has helped but it always comes back. Water comes from a 5 stage rodi. The rock in the tank is probably 7 years old an I have never ran gfo so I am betting it is saturated with phosphate. I did go a time without proper water changing regiment.

Questions
Will gfo help getting red slime algae/bacteria to go away.

If so

Run a dual carbon gfo reactor or two singles and what brand

And is the high capacity gfo worth it

Thanks

phosphate results?
Don't run gfo unless you know you have an issue..

cyano is really not an elevated phosphate symptom..

Just use red slime remover or chemiclean per directions..
And siphon it out the best you can during water changes..

IME, I have found that it grows in some low flow areas. I have had to add extra powerheads and not seen it come back. Just got through battling it. I am suspecting that mines came from low flow, I increase the intensity of my lights, and I had some increase of phosphates. I have corrected the above, along with the help of Chemiclean and have not seen it come back.

I have tried more flow after reading reviews I am going to try chemiclean

While more "flow" can help is never a solution IMO once its started..
It will happily just blow around/get stringy and spread out..

Red Slime Remover/ Chemiclean are just too easy and safe to not use it..
