is it safe to use red slime remover in a mantis tank? or will the mantis be affected? i have used this chemical in my other tanks without any affect on the crabs or snails or fish

Don't use antired - I killed my 11 year olds peacock with it - he was a fantastic family pet and it lead to my three boys all in tears burying him in the garden.

I am assuming you have a smasher as these are hard to keep clean up crew with.

You may have to manually clean the tank - don't overfeed and do regular water changes.

Good luck

Richard

Sorry to hear about your peacock, thanks for the advice. I'll try cleaning it by hand, the hard way first. Out of curiosity what eats red slime, since you mentioned a clean up crew?

i recently bought a queen conch, it plows threw red slime, and diatoms. they can get quite large. it might work long enough to get rid of the slime

i have used red slime remover in my mantis tank a few times and i never have had a problem with it. just make sure to folow the instructions and you should be good.

also conchs are a great way to get ride of the red slime algea and they usualy are safe in the tank. but it depends on the size of the tank too. you can also get abunch of nassarius snails for real cheap off of ebay and they will help get rid of it as well as feed the mantis when he is hungry.
