Red spot on tang?

Satori

Cancer Sucks
Have any of you seen anything like this before? It's a little red spot on the side of my yellow tang. He's in hypo for ich, (he never had it, but had to go with the other tangs to stay together)

I thought it was something stuck to him, but it's been there all day.

looks like he might be on his way out.

Because of a little red spot?

Hi Mike...Is he eating anything? If he is I would be feeding him as much as he want many times a day. He is awful skinny.

He eats just great. I feed nori 3 times a day and frozen brine/mysis/cyclopeze 2 times a day. I think that picture is at a bad angle. He's not that skinny, and the picture is washed out from flash. I'll try for a better one today.

I would get some Selcon and soak all the food you are feeding that to give him some extra vitamins and stuff. Is he being stressed out or picked on? I would just try to keep his belly full and fat.

Unfortunately, we don't have Selcon in this little town. I forgot to mention blood worms are in the feeding rotation too. I've been feeding tons to the QT tank since they don't have rocks to pick at all day.
As for being stressed/picked on, there are 3 tangs in a 37 gallon. I don't ever see any battles, but the yellow and atlantic blue flare their fins at each other every now and then.
I know it doesn't look like it in the picture, but he really seems healthy exept for that red dot.

Can anyone tell me the Saturday hours for Southwest Saltwater? I've been meaning to get up there anyway, and Selcon is the perfect excuse.

Thanks Ed, I'll talk to her Monday at work if I don't get some this weekend.

In the mean time, I'll get some cod liver oil from GNC to supplement vitamins A and D, as well as omega-3 fatty acids.

I feed my tangs the piscene energetics mysid shrimp that they keep in the freezer at majestic. I also give my tangs red dulse from health food stores. The tangs love this algae and look beautiful.

All the tangs look great in the main tank. It wasn't till I moved them to the QT that the yellow picked this up.

At any rate, the red spot is pretty much gone. I did a large water change and fed them some cod liver oil from walgreens. Everybody's happy.

It was a bacterial infection. If you check out the yellow tang sticky in the fish disease forum, you'll find it.

Is it possible to overfeed a fish?

Is it possible to overfeed a fish?

Is it possible for a fish to eat too much?

In the QT tank, I've been feeding like crazy to keep their bellies full for immune system. However, they look like they could pop.

Can they eat too much?

I'll get some pictures up once my camera battery finishes charging.

OH they all look so FAT and Happy!!! Glad to see everyone is doing well. When do you plan on putting them back in the main tank?

Ed

I don't even want to show you mine! They are even fatter than that. They look good though! I have a Naso...I got him to take care of a brown algae that nothing else would touch. He was so fat from eating all of it he could barely swim. If he did not pop no fish will!

Thanks guys! ~September 1st will be 6 weeks. They'll stay fat for a while after going back in once they clean up a little hair algae that has been enjoying their absence!

Ed, is the Atlantic blue changing colors? It's tough for me to tell since I see it every day and don't have any old pics. I think there's more blue on his fins?

He sure is!! I was going to mention that in my last post. That was the main reason I got a juvenile so I could witness the change to adulthood.
