woke up this morning and my emerald crab was attacking my red star fish. took a shower and came back to deal with it. the star had killed the crab and it now looks like its eating it. :eek2:
Seems that something is a miss here... Emerald crabs are slow and very in uncoordinated for lack of better words and scavenge for food and algae. I can't think that the crab was actively hunting your star, if it was then something is wrong with your star
star is pretty active and looks healthy. found the crab going after my scooter blenny (2 crabs in tank not sure which one was attacking). found it odd, now have to try to remove the body. why do they always wind up in the hardest places to get to. like me aquascape and hate to move things
If you feed them well I am confident that you will have little to no issues. I've watched one of my emerald crabs shredd a brittle star limb from limb and not once eat a bite then I realized it was just trying to get the piece of food that the starfish had. By the way the star is doing great.
What makes you say it was going after your mandarin?
