Red Tip Anemone split

I bought a Red Tip Anemone a month ago. I added a pair of clown fish last week and my Red Tip has split. Stress or trying to accommodate two fish?

could be stress, but honestly one of the members of the local club was just posting that she thinks they have a bit of an internal clock which tells them when to split if they are big enough.

Probably never know. There's too much happening at the same time. Could have knicked the foot in the move. Could be stressed by new parameters. Could be clown related.....

My guess is it has to do with the move. ???

Well with the information provided we can't really say why it may be splitting... but I can say that I've never heard of a nem splitting to accommodate it's clowns.

I haven't heard of it either. Maybe if there's enough fighting and disturbance it could cause something. ???

My bad it split into three. Females split; males don't. Splits will occur up to 12 new offspring per year once they are happy and healthy. Never move of transfer for about a month as they are fragile. Some will scurry across the tank to set up elsewhere and others will stay with the mother to colonize. Gotta love that.

That is inaccurate about males not assexually dividing--jeez! Who comes up with this crap. My RBTAs are all males and have assexually divided multiple times over the years.

defchild, although some species of anemone do reproduce assexually, such as bulb tips, many species are not known to reproduce assexually and have only been observed to reproduce by sexual reproduction.
