Hi -

I'd love some help/direction trying to find what I can about the algae/plant that is pictured below.

Lost emerald crabs in this tank recently [red-bug treatment] so a number of macros springing up here and there.

Would love an ID on this, and any suggestions on getting it eaten in a 3' long 58g tank [sorry, no Tangs, etc].

Thank You!

Asked about this same stuff a while back... no ID help though (that I recall).

Hand-pruning seems to be the only course of action and it has to be cautious hand-pruning; this stuff is 'brittle' and the little piece just attach and grow where they land.

I have found that while it is absolutely GORGEOUS under high-actinic or PC-only lighting (turns bright purple) it is always invasive and irritates soft and hard corals alike.

Hopefully yours is still localized enough to contain or remove as you see fit. ;)

id say a little piece of thornbush fell in ur system!!!!!

Only teasin!!!

That has a great looking texture to it.......

have u purchased it, or did it grow from some of ur LR?

Grew off LR, unless it is fragments of gracillaria that didn't do well in my 'fuge.

Then again, maybe that wasn't gracillaria ... just `given as' that.

That resembles my "dish scrubby" red algae, which I also do not have a positive ID on. It can be a dominating PITA so keep an eye on it. Mine really loves high flow.

Mine too :)

Yeah, figured out that my skimmer injector was partly clogged ... now it's booming again. Figure a restock of Emeralds will help it out.

Any other ideas? Have a few larger macro-like stuff springing up ... that aggressive skimming and export should help knock back - but ...
