Reef Aquarium 1350 gallons in Bucharest

It looks like foam to protect their knees while they work. I assume they cut out the nice pattern to design the layout.

The foam is not for knees protection...I will let Andy to tell you about it..it is a surprise :fish1:

The light is fantastic. The background is well iluminated and the rockwork is very nice from any angle you look at it.

I bet the foam will have a false sandbed epoxied to it. and the bare glass areas will have real sand for burrowing fish like jawfish.

Many thanks

Many thanks

Thank you!

I'm really glad you guys like what I've done. Your comments and compliments are very motivating to me. What started as a crazy idea of mine turn out to be something many people appreciates.

I am honored I was able to show my idea and work to Reef Central community.

Also I will like to thank all the people that have read this thread.

Thank you all!

Andy

The aquascaping looks fantastic!

As for the foam, it seems to tie into a similar-shaped cutout in the back vertical wall. Very intriguing, it almost looks like a riverbed, carving it's way through rock formations - Can't wait to see what's planned.

Very nice Andy that's the best dry rock work I ever see.
Are you doing bare bottom , deep sand bed and something in between.
And are you planning to run wave box?

Thank you Lawrence!

I will use cement, rocks and sand. Pictures coming.
No planning on using wave box. I'm waiting for MP80's to show up! :lolspin:

Andy

Excellent build!
The rock work on the back wall, will you have to let it cycle?
If so how long do you think it wil take?
In any event gonna follow, its like a good book i just can't put it down lol

Harry

Thanks Harry!

I will wash everything as much as it needs to get rid of the bad stuff. Probably will take about a month and a half maybe two.

Andy

Sorry, but I don't understand the images of the work on the bottom of the aquarium. Why is there a layer of mylar? What is the blue foam padding for?

Thx,

Dave.M

Hi Dave,

The mylar is under the cement because I didn't want to stick directly to the glass.
The blue foam will be actually the sand and I use it to keep the cement out of that area until it gets hard.
I think the pictures I will post, will better describe than my words in English.

Andy

WOW! Your penthouse and rooftop living areas look beautiful and this tank is top of the notch in design as well! Sorry I missed meeting you at MACNA as well, but maybe next year? After all these Extra-Large big builds I am following ... I think I'm going back to nanos as I can't compete!

Sara thank you so much for compliments!

I'm sorry too we didn't had the chance to meet at MACNA. At least I saw you one morning with your friend without knowing who you were. Peter told me later that day. But who knows maybe we meet next year?

There is no competition Sara. We all do what we can at the time with what each of us have learned. I would be happy with a nano too if that's what I afford at the time. As I mention at the beggining of the thread now four years ago I didn't even know what a marine aquarium looks like and now I allready know the latin names of most marine species. I also tried to keep all kinds of marine animals:

See Sara, you never know how big your tank will be or what it will host....

Peter mentioned it was you after you had already passed us I believe when we were in line for the buffet breakfast. I'll be at the next MACNA, so maybe we can meet there!

I think tanks can be large if you can afford them the time . I think having the time is the key personally! And of course, money does not hurt either ;)

Love the sharks and eel in that tank!

I look forward to following your progress on this impressive build Andy!

Thank you Tom for trying to explain.

I think for the most part mr. Ching chai is happy with his 6305 and 6212 wavebox and I am very happy with my combo 6205 and 6215 wavebox
Wavebox create a different kind of hypnotic flow on soft corals or LPS :)
While the stream provide a strong pulsing current.

Andy, its absolutely awesome!!! Fabulous reef creation. I think ChingChai would agree it is true art. Balance is what you will need from this point in your journey and this you will only find with patience my friend. Take your time, you are heading for a masterpiece........

Peter

Wow... Now I know what you mean about the cement.

Truly agree.

Andy, thx for that photo sequence. Now I understand exactly what the blue pads were for.

It is so beautiful, do you really think you need sand? ;)
