Hey everyone. So I finally got to go back home to Northern CA for my grandma's 90th and found that everything is running quite well. Many of the corals have started filling in the spaces. I also bought a newer calcium reactor since my old one wasnt working and so my tank has been without one for like 6 moths now. I added a phosban reactor and adjusted the time for the lights now that days are getting longer. I also removed several fish to lower the bioload. Its amazing how fast things have grown since I've been gone. I removed the Green Coris wrasse (due to size and agression), two damsels, the lamark angel (which had gotten to a good 4.5 inches from the 2 inch juvenile when i got it), and the Foxface. As of now the Vlamingi may still be going to the Birch Aquarium or a LFS that I work at when home. My rose bubble on the right has split yet again. The pictures show three but now there are currently 5 (all of which started from a small $15 dollar anemone won at the San Francisco Aquarium society). When I was home I noticed that my pair of psychedelics had spawned. My papau new guinea percs were breeding as usual, as were the bengaii cardinals. Hopefully this summer ill have time to raise something! Here are some picture updates as well as some other fun pictures that I've taken while volunteering at the Birch Aquarium, at home, and here in San Diego.
So my friends tank just crashed after hitting 95 degrees or so. Thus I am now holding his fish.. AAHHHhhhh. all I can say is that the system is waaaaay overstocked but Im glad his fish pulled through since they were in terrible condition when he brought them over (swimming upside down/ spinning/ pale). He's setting up a new system since> it had became polluted. You can see some in the picture> purple/sailfin/ yellow belly. I am just glad the Vlamingi will have a nice big home to swim around by the end of july. btw the dog is my mom's new dog.
Here is another picture of my female mandarin
and one of my male
my BT
my female Percula Clown for Papua new Guinea> still breeding every 9 days>> the male is soo difficult to get a picture of
Beautiful tank- I love that style of setup.
Your vivarium shots make me want to convert one of my tanks Back to a redeye paludarium like I used to have. I had 1 killer display with redeyes and mantellas, and another with dendrobates and rhampholeons. Frogs and reefing just seem to go together for some reason- every public aquarium/zoo seems to have them on display together too (rather than putting the frogs in a herp house).
Good stuff!
