Reef breeder 48"

So I'm setting up a 150 gallon tank soon. 6ft*18w*29tall I think.

A guy in the local forums has a reef breeder 48 inch led fixture that he says is 6 months old and wants $375.

Is this a good fixture, good price?
Thoughts?
Thanks!

Yeah that is a good price. I bought my Photon-W 48" for $590 I think. The actual unit is only 42 1/2" though. On a 6' tank there will be some space on each side. I love mine thus far. I have only had it for a couple months and I am seeing great growth. Just make sure everything works on it.

Thank you for the reply, that sounds good to me! I've never met the person, but everyone else says good things about him.

Even 12" or so above the tank I'll have some space on both sides?

I guess I could put it on the one side and then use a Chinese off brand for the empty spot if it's too bad.

Will it be able to grow stuff on the sand if the depth is 27-29 inches?

What settings are you using for Channel 1 and 2?

Mine sits 6" above from the inside lip of the tank. It came with the tank mount and hanging kit but I don't have room to hang it.

Yeah the website says about 250 PAR at 26".

They make two versions of the model 48.
One "48" that fits four foot tanks, and then a fixture that is actually 47.5" long and fits six foot tanks.

Not to burst your bubble but I would stay away from Breeders. I have 2 Photon 36's that have been nothing but trouble. First unit I had to replace 2 drivers. 14 months into service. About 6 months later my other unit now has a bad driver. Moral of the story.......you get what you pay for.

I've had the photon 48 for close to two years now with no issues.
I've used it on two tanks.

First tank was 59' Long/15.25' Tall/18.5' Wide
Current tank is 60' Long/20 Tall/24 wide.

Have the lights ramp up throughout an eight hour period peaking at 55 blues and 35 whites then ramp back down

Every product out there is bound to have a bad batch every once in a while. With reef breeders though they not only honor warranties, they also pay shipping to and from for repairs.
Its a 2year warranty. Some have 3 years but I'm not sure of which ones or customer service and all that.
I do know if you call reef breeders with any question at all, or email, you will get a response back right away or a call back if there is no answer. That says a lot in its self, never mind paying shipping to and from their self and not forcing the customer to.
Definitely keep the box it ships in.... Its heavy made and well padded. Should you need to ship it back later for anything you'll already have an excellent way to ship.
