you aren't the only one confused.
Looks like two people so far want it closed.

The rest of us don't want the forum closed/locked or the name changed.We have now problem with the "official" site that's being pushed but we like it here at RC. We are willing to change the name to keep the forum open but would rather not.

Of those which voiced their opinions on the board, it seems only a couple are against the name change. I fear by locking this forum it will most likely just be forgotten. I don't see much traffic generated on a board that is dead.

That being said, many of us are just seeking a presence for our area on Reef Central. Whether this forum changes names or a new one is started fresh.

Why should something resulting from all of us, suddenly belong to only a few, who want to change the name of something, in order to keep it.

So can we lock this forum down forever as the club owner wishes and start a new forum with the name that gets the top vote?

If we do that, can I request my build thread to be moved over to the new forum?

I would think the mods would move it over for you or perhaps copy it so that it still appears both places.

But I think the normal procedure would be that they would move it for you, but leave a link here that would lead to the new location. I might be wrong but I have seen it done before when questions got posted in the wrong forum.

I am confused on how this club forum physically belongs to anyone in particular. We were a group and still are a group wanting to stay together. A few want out and several want to continue the journey with our reef tanks. I got my start here. I found JoMar's by a fluke on a medical office visit. I have many friends here and if this is locked it will deter us from communicating freely....I think....not sure if I need to poplulate everyone I want to converse with into my buddy list.

Agu, how will it work if you lock this down? Will we have to go to the archives to find someone or something and then copy and paste to contact others? If I remember correctly going to the archives during a peak time is somtimes difficult to do with the server load. What can we expect on delays? How can we make this user friendly for those that want to stay? I'm not a techie but I hate the "we are experiencing high volume, please try again later! Won't using the archives cause us to encounter this problem while we are resurrecting some of the threads or will we need a formal request from the RC mods on each and every thread to keep? Curious how this will work for us.

Since I helped start this forum and club and may or may not still be a council who is "only the few" and who is "all of us". At least one other founder/council doesn't want to shut this forum down either. FWIW this forum isn't the product of the CVRC the www.thechemicalvalleyreefclub.com is a product of this forum.
We don't want to change the name but we've been given no choice if we want keep up with our friends on RC and not lose years of posts. Most of us have no problem posting on both sites but for someone to decide we can't post here anymore just sits wrong.

There isn't, or shouldn't be, a club owner AFAIK. If the forum gets renamed your build thread should stay same. If we have to move to a different forum ask for it to be moved to NKRA or the general forum..

the one thing missing from mary's list was a good reason to close / lock the forum.

those of us who dont use the other site, and do not plan on starting have some options. options that don't involve those to are leaving.

if you want to stop using the forum here, that means i stop caring about your desires about how the stuff here works.

once you take your ball off the court, i don't think you get to make the rules for the next game w/ someone else's ball.

while so far i have wanted a new forum name of either Borg (it's the O'fishal name now) or ARS. I now most of all want the new name to NCVRC. or CVRC 2.0

We were informed in the past that the club president "owns" the rights to the name CVRC. Whether or not that is true, it is in no one's best interests to retain that name. If you wish to use some variation on it, that would be fine, but we need to make a decision
