Oh my gosh! I just went to reef depot tonight with my boyfriend and it was AMAZING!! I got some great zoas and my boy got a lot of sun coral for pretty cheep. It is so worth the trip. Their website is www.reefdepot.net. I know I don't really post here much but I just had to let you all know

Yes you have to call before hand.

They are located out here in sunny Lombard/Villa Park. Near 38 and 83.

Home type. But I was really impressed with the stuff he had the couple of times I've been there. The set up is pretty nice.

All stuff I've picked up from there are doing great. The SPS had PE right when I put them in my tank. They are showing great growth already. And the zoas I got are doing great. Very nice sized rock that they were on.

Call first, but it really is worth the drive from the city, and wouldn't be that hard to get too since it is off of 38.

Thanks Todd. Oh and just to let you all know....they are picking up a shipment tonight so there should be some great stuff tomorrow! I just finished getting the stuff acclimated and they are already opening.

Sure be nice if they had set hours, even if it was just on Saturday,

I'm not a big fan of calling a head.

Yes, but only if the person posting works for the place being talked about. And since the owners haven't posted, there is no issue.

There is nothing wrong with reefers telling fellow reefers about a place.

And I wonder why you seem to question this so much?

This is called word of mouth advertising. If a small shop doesn't have a storefront the only way they can get their name out is to have people come over and then give feedback for others to view. This is how DLC and Rod's Reef do it too. Competition is not a bad thing especially when comparing to all those other storefront LFS that aren't worth crap. I'd prefer going to someone's basement because you know that you are not paying for the overhead cost of employees and rent on a storefront. As a result you get better prices and owners that can order about anything for you. Just my 2 cents.

actually its called shilling.........basement chop shops will only get u more LFS that arent worth crap.....many are unlicensed and illegally operated businesses....if u develop a retaionship with any owner they will always try to met ur needs....they only benifit i see is if u get screwed at least u know where they live..lol

just my 3 cents

why the bashing?

why the bashing?

just my 3 cents [/B]

i always like to see who would actually come on and bash a place that might offer better service/product than a LFS, especially after getting glowing reviews?! its always a person with an agenda.

MM949, aka MATT FROM SHOTANK , you fit that bill.

I was out at this place this Saturday and was very impressed, the guy knows his stuff and he sells colonies of very nice coral (sps he had was excellent) and at this time he does not frag or sell frags. I plan to go back and pick up a few more things and I highly recommend it to anyone who is in the area.

I'm a big Reef Depot fan and quite frankly, I don't care if they sold this stuff out of the trunk of their cars.

Right now, for the area they have the best selection, healthiest selection, and most reasonable prices.

It's called free enterprise. If the LFS's in the area can't keep up with competition then so be it...learn to be competitive...I'll spend my money with you the minute you have a comaprable product.

It's easy...so in the meantime, stop your whining and negative posting.
