Hey Dan I have one, but no pics. There's 6 goldfish, 4 koi, 3 bullheads and whatever else finds it. Do you have a full pond shot? Very nice fish and frogs!!

thanks, they live out all winter.i keep the waterfall kicking and the pond only freezes at the one end where the cat tails are.the pond has been running non stop for 7 years and the frogs have been there for four.the koi spawned the last two years and i managed to grab out a couple fry before the largemouth bass and bull head catfish ate them all.

very nice Dan! Is that a hole you dug out or is it a pre-formed one. We have a pre-form one around 100 to 150 gal. that has seen better days. What do you do about leaves? How deep is yours?

thanks jon, chuck and critter.its hard to tell in the pics but the pond is 26 feet by 12 feet and is 4.5 foot deep.the depth is the most important factor IMO.it maintains a more steady temp and gives the koi places to hide and over winter.i do very little in terms of leaf removal or maintenence.i run it in a more natural way and let the things take care of themselves.the only thing i need to do regularly is clean the intake of the pump about once a month in the spring, summer and fall months.in the winter it stays clean from november to march without touching it.the koi are huge.i would estimate around 5 pounds and probably 20 inches or better.the one with the pearl scales really started out as a ugly duckling and after it got big started to really shine.that is a female and the one that has produced the fry for the past two years.

ah, yeah so its dug out. nice. That is what I'm thinking of doing down the road. We want to turn our current deck 12x12 into a screened-in porch, then add another section to that deck that would serve for the open deck. Then a few feet from that part of the deck is a natural spring in the groud that I want to have dug out and down so the fish can winter over. probably will be some time before this happens lol.

Hey Dan, did you dig that out yourself? Or how so? Looks nice. I have a small pond that was a prefab but I want to take it out and extend mine and make it bigger.
