Check ABC Reefs my man... I think thats where Brandon got his. I ordered mine directly from Digital Aquatics

I ordered one a couple months ago and then another last friday... Maybe they stopped doing the 99 basic? Give them a call or order it direct from digital aquatics.

for now d.a. is out of stock-will call abc on sat

You still loving yours Jay?

you have float switch on that?

Ive been debating pulling the trigger on a controller, too.I like the 99 dollar deal but It seams the add ons are where your going to get gouged.

As I see it the reef keeper lite is not much more than I heater controller ,if you wanted to add a ato you have to buy the control mod, plus pump and the float swith. Price starts climbing quickly.
At this point Im trying to figure whitch features I d really like to be included then weighing price, still undecided.

You are definitely limitted out of the box for $99, but you do get a heater controler, light timer, and wavermaker so there is some functionality. For $80 you can get a module with the ability for float switch control, pH monitoring, and salinity monitoring (but of course you have to get the probes). Its a comparable cost to other controllers once you build it up, but some people really only want the basic features, and the $99 RKL is unbeatable for that

I was gonna buy one of those but went with a reefkeeper 2. It came with the controller, temp probe and the 8 plug unit for 230.00.It has the wavemaker feature plus it came with the up grade so you can monitor it online. I don't have it online yet so I don't know how well it works. Unfortunetly they don't make them anymore..

-Jay,

Im pretty uneducated on controllers.

Are you saying for 99 dollars you the RKl and about 80 dollars more you get ph control, salinity and ato? for under 200 dollars?
I see it only has 4 outlets so you'd have to upgrade that in some way, wouldn't you ?plus the cost of probes?

Thats what I think would be the best buy. Wow wondering why they dont make it anymore.

I wish ;) For $170 you get the ability to do Ato, pH, and salinity. Ph and salinity probes are $60-70 I think. The float switch is cheaper at like $20. So for under $200 you can get the RKL, the module, and the float switch. But like you said, at that point you probably want an extra power unit ($90). So noone can make the claim that the RKL is the cheapest route. But the biggest benefit is you can "build as you go"... you dont need to invest all the money upfront, and you pick only the features you want.
