Reef Link

Update:
After a number of power cycles I was able to connect the ReefLink via Ethernet and control the lights.

The firmware upgrade froze while doing it from within the ReefLink Setup program, but I was able to get the firmware updated through ESL

Still no success connecting the ReefLink wirelessly.

I am having the same problem. Customer service wants me to call in from m-f, 9am-5pm.

I work on those hours. It's sitting there blinking green and orange for the last 3 weeks. Very disappointed with reef link thus far. My 2nd system has wxm on it and it's one thousand times more reliable. I have neptune on this system but thought I give reef link a chance. Needless to say I am one disappointed customer.

Another piece of information that may help troubleshoot my issue, the router I am using is an Apple Airport Extreme.

This wireless router has worked flawlessly with every other component (PCs, Laptops, Tablets, Phones, Sonos) that have been introduced. In that regard, if there is an issue I would say it is with the Reef Link. Is anyone else successfully using a Apple Airport Extreme wireless router with Reef Link?

Out of curiosity does your wifi password contain any non-alphanumeric characters ( simple yes or no will do?) I was unable to get mine to connect to ecosmartlive (ESL) until I changed my account password to a simpler password. My wifi password is also complex, it contains non-alphanumeric characters, and reeflink refuses to connect to it. I suspect the issues are related but I have not tested my hypothesis.

My Reeflink is Now 3 Weeks Old, and works perfectly to control my two Radion XR30W Pro. I did not have a problem setting them up or connecting them with My Lights. The instructions were clear and I have not Called ECOTECH for Support. For Me this is a great Product. Also Firware update went perfectly with no false starts, or interruptions.

I just tested this. Changed my wifi password to simple alphanumeric password reeflink connects flawlessly. Changed it back to previous password and it fails to connect. I pretty sure there is an issue with how the device handles complex passwords.

I wonder how this is going to work out for those of us that have apex. I read that it is either Fusion or reeflink for control. Not both.

That is my understanding as well, I believe the WXM overrides what was previously programmed on the lights via ESL.

Like n9bx, I have had zero problems with my reeflink, plugged in, connected wirelessly, and always responds to my control. Loving it so far.

It would be nice to get some hint as to what Reef Link's full capabilities will be, both short and long term.

I as well have the apple airport extreme. Everything works perfect VIA wireless EXCEPT for this damn reef link.

As far as trouble shooting goes, I've done power cycle. Reset the router. Reset the modem. Reset ESL on my MacBookPro. Nothing works. It will connect to ESL once the usb is connected to my laptop. When USB is taken out, there goes the connection. This thing is a waste. If anyone wants it, PM me. I'll sell it to you for the price it cost to get a new wxm.

Update:
Spoke with Ecotech tech support. Updating the Airport Extreme's firmware level to the current release (7.6.4) appears to have corrected the problem.

Did you call Ecotech?

Did you call Ecotech?

I'm usually at work before sunrise until sunset. Unfortunately Ecotech working hours are m-f 9-5. My next off day is new years. Of course Ecotech would be closed as well. lol

I'll just let it sit there(blinking green and orange) until my next off day whenever that is. Like I said, I'll entertain offers for this if anyone wants it.

I have two set up. Both have radians and vortechs. I thoroughly enjoy their products. This reef link has not lived up to the usual standards that I expect from ecotech.

I am also unable to get my Reeflink to connect wirelessly, but it does work with the ethernet connected to my Apple Extreme.

jusn,

If you haven't done so try updating the Airport Extreme's firmware. If you continue to experience issues, please call us and we will be able to resolve the issue!
