Reef Octopus 200INT adjustment question

Looking for some assistance in adjusting my reef octopus skimmer. While breaking in my new skimmer the flow out of the exit valve was nice and silent. Now that I am dialing up the flow to get the skim adjusted correctly the exit flow is right above my water line in the sump which is causing a lot of noise and some splashing. Can I put a 45 degree elbow on the exit valve to get the exiting water below the water line in my sump? Or is it possibly to lower the valve assembly on the exit pipe to get it below the water line to reduce the noise?

Yes to both. Just be sure to drill a hole, a small one, on the 45 to let it breath and reduce back pressure.

I have a 90 on the exit of my RO prime 150 int for the exact reason you described. Never drilled a hole in it to reduce backpressure but have never had any issues with it's performance or consistency so I guess I really don't need to.

Thanks for the info. I went to the local fish store last night and he said that Reef Octopus makes a 45 angle that fits on their skimmers. He actually showed me one of his skimmers with the 45 on it. I find it frustrating that when I try to reach out to ReefOctopus to get more info on that part they do not reply.
