Reef Octopus xp3000 skimmer problems

I have the external version and for the past few days I can't get it running correctly. when I pump water into it and turn the pump on, the skimmer just makes really small bubbles and no foam. The bubbles just shoot up and can't be controlled so it just overflows. Can anyone help?

How long has it been running? Is it broken in? Where is the water level in the skimmer at.

Please post a picture.

Make sure the skimmer output is 100% open and the skimmer is in ~8" of salt water

It has been running for about two months and the thing is that I cant control the water level because it just shoots up into the collection cup.

As you can see it is forming very small bubbles and barely any foam.

Now it started to stay at a low level and sometimes it will let out a lot of water at a time and the level drops.

Was looking more for a pic of how its installed. That doesn't really tell us anything other then it bubbles.
