Reef Pond

Just wondering if anyone here in Tampa has successfully maintained a "reef pond" or an aquarium outside. I was think how cool it would be to turn a swimming pool into a reef tank, and then I started thinking that it would be cool to do on a miniature level.

I think someone locally breeds sharks in outdoor ponds.

Shark pond seems to be most doable for a smaller pond. I'm guessing that you would want to make it deep enough that other animals can't get in or maybe put a cover on it?

How are people maintaining salinity outdoors between evaporation and rain? Canopy and top-off?
