need a new 75 tank. looking at reef ready I feel you give up a lot of space in the tank..this will be my 1st tank with a sump[also lifereef] I read where their overflows are the best. I also read horror stories about overflows. so, fire away with both sides.make me believe one way or another.

Get a regular 75 gallon aquarium and a Synergy overflow. Drill the tank yourself (verify tank can be drilled) and mount the Synergy overflow. It is easy to do.

+1 on drill the tank yourself. You control the placement of your overflow and the size of your plumbing and overflow box. I opt for a simple upturned black PVC elbow as I find this the least intrusive.

I owned a reef ready tank for my first tank in the hobby and never owned another. Bought standard tanks and drilled them myself every tank since then.

boy, I,m pretty handy and 1 of my hobbies is building 1/3 size r c aircraft from plans, but, trying to drilling a new tank would scare the .... out of me.

I would buy and drill as well. It is a very easy job. You'll be amazed it was that easy after you are done. Just plan your hole placement and go slow.
