Wow, didn't realize that. Every source I've read listed max size at 7 inches (only listed one specimen of 8") How big do they get?

Probably about that length, but consider height as well. I have a friend that got 5 for her 360 and they are huge 8 months later, makes the tank look a lot smaller. The shape changes a lot as they grow too, more attractive as juvies IMO.
