Reef Safe fish?

I doubt that many people screen their fishes as well as I do :)

I have the extremely envious benefit of being able to monitor many specimens for many weeks before actually purchasing them.

Gary thanks for ringing in there with your views. Lots of good information for sure. Couple of questions. I know nothing is set in stone. What works for one might not work for the next guy.

So lets say I wanted to "try" a CBB. I do agree my tank and myself are no were near ready to try that. I need to gain more knowledge and experience to give the CBB the best chance to survive. So lets say wait the year as you suggested. Is it true that the CBB should go in before the tangs? So I should or would need to wait the year for the tangs as well?

I think my next addition will be a few Wrasses. I'll go do some reading up on those now. Want t take my time adding fish.

Reefscape I never called or went up. My wife found some yard work for me :)

Gary I did a search on a Centropyge multicolor. Nice little fish there...

DrBronx These are the tangs we are looking at.

1)Blonde Naso Tang
2)Atlantic Blue Tang
3)Powder blue tang
4)Mustard Tang

Good bad. Still looking into those as well.

for a 180 reef, right?
I'm sure that Jer will agree with my opinion on these.

I would NOT wait one year to introduce any Tangs and they don't necessarily need to go in before or after a CBB.

Yes 180 tank. Tank has been going just shy of 3 months now. At what point do I start adding the tangs? In what order?

introduce fish from least aggressive to most aggressive.
JMO but for your 180 the only two tangs from your list I could possibly recommend would be PBT or Atlantic Blue.
All Naso species get much too large for a 180 IMO.
Here's the (larger) multicolor

Gary - Very nice looking tank! And the fish is beautiful.

Neoz - I'd have to agree with the above. The Naso will need something in the 300gal range to be able to grow out and mature comfortably. I'm not familiar with the Mustard Tang. I know the Atlantic Blue, and it's one of my favorite tangs, and it would make a great addition to your tank. Powder Blues are nice too, but I personally like the Powder Browns better. And, if you do get an Atlantic Blue, I think it would be a nice contrast to get a Powder Brown instead of Blue for some contrast and difference in the 2 larger "show" type fish. IMO, 4 Tangs in a 180gal is kind of pushing it, no matter what types they are. I think it's a good idea to start off with the Wrasses and let them get settled in for a little bit before you start adding larger fish.

BTW, I never made it up to Finnyas either. There is an LFS in Elmira that has an Atlantic Blue Juvi. It's only about 2-3", and still mostly all yellow. I've been wanting to get it, but my tank is too small.:(
